VPN provides a secure, encrypted tunnel between your computer and the NetShade VPN servers, which in turn provide access to the Internet. This enables the redirection of a proxy server, but with the added benefit of encryption. VPN also encrypts traffic over all ports, not just HTTP and HTTPS.
To connect to a VPN server, choose it from the "VPN Server" menu at the top of the NetShade window. Alternatively, you can access the VPN servers from the NetShade status menu in your status bar.
VPN connections require a subscription or free trial for the NetShade VPN service. This is an additional service above standard proxy access. When connecting to a VPN, NetShade will install the NetShade VPN servers as profiles in your system settings. The actual VPN connectivity is handled by MacOS X. If you see proxy servers beginning with "NSH" in your System Preferences, these are NetShade servers.
To have NetShade remove all VPN configuration from your computer, choose "Remove VPN Config" from the Gear button at the top-right of the NetShade window. Note that the VPN configurations will be automatically reinstalled next time you choose a VPN server in NetShade.
